Race report from Lowestoft

CLASS ADMINISTRATOR VACANCY 
UK Laser needs a new Class Secretary/Administrator. UKLA Class Sec, Dot Beadsworth, has decided to retire and we have to find a replacement, Dot has for many years been the face of the Class Association so finding a replacement won’t be easy – but here goes…
The Class Administrator is a part-time time paid role,.Hours to be agreed and needs to be flexible, but probably about 15-20 per week. The job is to organize the Class and the Committee and administer the activities of the Class.
Key Skills required;
Highly organized, possibly previously from role where organizational skills where paramount.
Strong with IT, able to lead the Committee in this area and ensure our IT functions well to the advantage of our members
Advantageous if the candidate has some knowledge of the sailing world.If you would like to know more about this role please contact;

Northern Region GP 21 October 
This event will now take place at Pennine Sailing Club rather than Dovestone Sailing Club. This is due to the hot summer and the use of the reservoir’s water for fighting moorland fires, resulting in water levels now being too low for a successful event.

UKLA Inland Championships now open 
The online entry is now open for the UKLA Inlads Champships being held at Rutland Sailing Club on the 27/28 October 2018. This results for the Laser 4.7 Fleet form part of the Laser 4.7 2018-19 Ladder Series.

Winter Youth Training 
The training dates for both the Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 fleets are published on the UKLA calendar. Please bear in mind that the closing date for these events tends to be two weeks prior to the event to ensure that the correct number of coaches and RIBs are available. Viability and coach confirmations are done on the basis of paid entries.

WORLD & EURO QUALIFICATION FOR 2019 
Qualification documents for Radial and Standard are now posted under categories.

Update to NOR for Laser Qualifiers 
Version 2 of the NOR has been posted on the event website for qualifiers 4-6. The main change is the the Youth Ladder.

Laser Qualifiers 
An update to the general UKLA sailing Instructions has been posted on the event sites for the the Qualifieirs 4 - 6.

Laser 4.7 Youth Training Dates 
The dates for the autumn 2018 have been published on the UKLA calendar. Online entry opens on the 13th September.

Laser Grand Prix Lakeland & Far North final event 
This has changed from Coniston Water on 6th October to Derwent Reservoir on 29th September.

Laser 4.7 Ladder 4 - Change of Date 
Unfortunately, due to a clash with other UKLA activities, we have had to move the event from the 17.18 November to the 10/11 November. The NOR for the Laer 4.7 Ladder series will be updated accordingly.

REMINDER: FINAL WEEK to Vote on 2018 ILCA Rule Changes by 7 September 2018 
Just a reminder that this is the FINAL WEEK to vote on this year's ILCA rule changes. Voting is open to ALL active members in our district - one vote per member. The six-month voting period ends FRIDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER 2018. The results will be announced later in the autumn. If you have already voted, thank you. If you have not yet voted, please take a moment to click on the link below and vote via a quick, 7-question online survey. There is also a link to the voting survey on the ILCA website: www.laserinternational.org . To be counted, you must vote by 7 September 2018.

RYA PHYSICAL PROFILING 
After review the Physical Profiling will no longer be conducted at Junior level and will be conducted once a year at Youth level. It will still be a requirement of the RYA UK Youth Squad selection policy and the next Physical Profiling sessions will take place on the 9th-10th February 2019. More information can be found on the Profiling page on the RYA Website

RYA Physical Profiling

Laser Radial Youth Training 
Weekend 1 - WPNSA

This weekend will be set for sailors both new to the boat and fleet and also the seasoned Radial sailor. The group will be filtered into groups and coaching plans and objectives will be set from this. A parent chat will be held on Saturday evening where I (Tim Hulse) will look to explain the different options for sailors new to the fleet, which events are key and what to expect in the coming years from both the RYA and UKLA.

ILCA 2018 RULE CHANGE vote 

Laser Standard Sailors Preparing for the Autumn Qualifiers 
Would you be interested in a weekend of training to help you prepare for this autumn’s qualifier events? We need to gauge interest and need a minimum of 10 sailors to put the training together. Venue will be south coast, either the second or third weekend of September, cost somewhere between £85 & £100, all TBC.
